Hear me roar
Many features have been added over the past few months (mostly back in October and November) and it's time for ManaWarg's first devlog. For years, the line "Anything is possible with the future versions of this program." has featured on ManaWarg's project page with unapologetic irony. But this future is inching closer. The tool is becoming more and more capable of basic operations, even if much still remains to be implemented and improved.
The Resource Browser's previewing capabilities have been extended to include fonts, prefabs and particle systems. Within the Node Tree, nodes and components can now be reparented by means of drag and drop, and - when right-clicking a node - the context menu can be used to add child nodes or components as well as for saving the node to a prefab file. Prefabs are recognized as such by the Resource Browser, which will appear in the Add menu but can also be added to a node by means of drag and drop... or at least that used to work, but it seems we just found a bug.
Apart from modifying their transform's values in the Properties Editor, nodes can now also be moved around, rotated and scaled in the Scene Viewer. Gizmos are yet to be implemented, and for now these operations are only available by using the G/R/S keys to grab, rotate and scale. By pressing the X, Y or Z key, the transform operation can be locked to an axis. Combining one of these keys with the Shift key, will lock it to the plane perpendicular to that axis. A combo box in the main toolbar sets the transform space these operations will be applied in. Cut, copy, paste and deletion of nodes and components are also among the newly added features.
The toolbar has also been equipped with a Run button which toggles continuous updating of the current scene, allowing to run physics simulations and scripts as well as just seeing what your scene looks like with particles being emitted.
The File menu also went through some reorganization, and is now split into Project and Scene file operations. Lastly, more resource types can now be double-clicked to open them in the appropriate editor: Scenes will open in the Scene Viewer, text files will be passed to the Text Editor, and models will be set as the Material Editor's preview model.
Happy conjuring!
